Pakistan train crash Nine killed and 70 injure

Yet another fatal train crash within a month has left nine passengers dead and 70 injured in Sadiqabad – a city in Southern Punjab of Pakistan.

Emergency crew may be on the spot that the number of casualty may be up to the resuce operation as well

The accdient happened in the early hours of Thursday when Akbar Express Tarin travelling from Quetta to Lahore collided with a stationary freight train at the Walhar Railway Station in Sadiqabad Tehsil of Punjab province.

District Police Officer (DPO) Rahim Yar Khan Umar Salamat said the deceased included one woman and eight men, while the injured included nine women and 11 children.

Dunya News reported that at least eleven people were killed and 60 others were injured when the accelerated Akbar Express collided with the stationary goods train.

Police said that the engine of the Akbar Express was completely destroyed in the evening while three bogies were damaged.

The injured have been shifted to nearby Sadiqabad and Rahim Yar Khan for treatment where an emergency has been declared, Geo News reported.

A child and a man has been rescued from the train, the report said.

The DPO further said that the rescue operation is underway and the hydraulic cutters are called at the bodies dead to retrieve the site.

Officials say they fear more casualties in the accident.

Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Arif Alvi have said that the precious lives of the loss of life in the train accident.
