Four infected persons get cured: Health Ministry

Kathmandu, April 19 :
Four coronavirus infected persons out of total 31 infected people have been cured, said the Ministry of Health and Population.
Twenty one-year old youth was discharged from Seti Hospital on Sunday after being cured of the infection, said the Ministry's Spokesperson Dr Bikash Devkota at a regular press conference organised by the Ministry.
Others who were cured of the virus including 65 year-old woman and 19-year-old Prasiddhi Shrestha were receiving treatment at Dhaulagiri Hospital in Baglung and Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Teku. Shrestha and 65-year old woman were discharged on Saturday.
Another man, who was the first to have been tested positive for the virus in Nepal, was discharged from hospital after being cured weeks ago. He had returned home from China, where the virus was first detected in Wuhan.
The virus was found in Nepal on January 23. Following the detection of the second infection case in Nepal on March 23, the government imposed lockdown across the country on March 24. Lockdown has been extended twice since and continues until April 27).
The government has suspended domestic and international flights until April 30. Twenty seven suspected people have been kept in isolation (one at Teku hospital, two at Patan hospital, one at Baglung hospital, one at Dhangadhi hospital, four in Birgunj and 13 in Biratnagar, said the Ministry. Tests through polymerase chain reaction have started at Bheri hospital, Nepalgunj, said the Ministry. With this, 15 laboratories across the country are equipped with PCR.
Swabs of 67 suspected people in Udayapur have been collected on Saturday.
So far, 29,567 suspected people were tested for the infection (8,081 through PCR and 21,486 through rapid diagnostic test), according to the Ministry. Of them, tests of 2,168 suspected people were conducted in 24 hours.
So far, 5,180 suspected have been quarantined across the country and 103 kept in isolation (five in the Kathmandu Valley and 98 outside), said Dr Devkota, adding that concerns of 2,241 people related to the infection were addressed in 24 hours through toll free numbers 1115 and 1133 set up by the Ministry.
