Total COVID-19 infections reach 45: Health Ministry

Kathmandu, April 22 : With three new infections detected today, the total number of people infected by COVID-19 has reached 45 in the country according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

Preparations were underway to send the three infected men found today, who had been in a quarantine.

The three persons were confirmed to have contracted the virus in the swab test held at B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, the Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr Bikash Devkota said at the regular press conference organised here on today by the Ministry.

So far, 40,431 suspected people have been tested for COVID-19 across the country. This includes 9,011 through polymerase chain reaction and 31420 through rapid diagnostic test method. Of them, tests of 3,736 were conducted in the last 24 hours.

Likewise, 8,595 people have been quarantined and 95 kept in isolation. Two hundred sixty nine have been put in red zone.

The Ministry addressed concerns of 2,144 people regarding the infection through toll free numbers set up by the Ministry in the past 24 hours, said Dr Devkota.
