Kathmandu, April 27: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is at work to run the postponed secondary education exam (SEE) in the normal situation once the lockdown imposed by the government over coronavirus is lifted, said the Ministry.

The committee to determine structure of alternative educational method and examinations is at work and SEE would be organised acting on preliminary suggestions from the committee, said the Ministry’s Secretary Mahesh Prasad Dahal.

The Ministry would make public its views in relation to the SEE after the government takes decisions in the extension or lifting of lockdown, said Dahal in a video conference organised here by the National Campaign for Education (NCE). Social distancing should be maintained when SEE takes place following the lockdown lifting, the conference suggested.

Educationist Dr Man Prasad Wagle suggested that grading system should take place on evaluation of annual examination results of students.

Likewise, social distancing or examinations of four major subjects in a single day should take place and internal evaluation of the remaining subjects take place when tests are organised, he said. NCE Nepal’s Chairperson Dilliram Subedi asked the concerned authorities to take into account psychological pressure and difficulties students may face when SEE is organised at this time of crisis.

The meeting of the high level coordination committee on March 18 had postponed SEE scheduled for March 19 to 30 over coronavirus menace. The total 482,219 students across the country were appearing the SEE and 1,995 exam centres were set up.
