New 201 COVID-19 cases reported in Nepal, tally reaches 2,300

Kathmandu, June 3  : A total of 201 new cases of Corona Virus have been reported in Nepal today, taking the national tally to 2,300 as of now. Among the new cases confirmed today, 179 are male and 22 female, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

Another COVID-19 related death was reported today in Kathmandu. A 73-year-old man from Dolakha district undergoing treatment at Kathmandu Medical College at Sinamangal, after suffering from hemorrhagic stroke, died.

He was confirmed to have contracted the flu-like infection after a test performed on him on May 28. He was then referred to the Maharajgunj-based Teaching Hospital.

With this, the number of people dying due to the deadly infection has reached 9 in the country, said Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr Bikash Devkota.

Likewise, 12 COVID-19 patients returned home today after recovery. A total of 278 persons have already returned home so far upon recovery from the infection.

In the last 24 hours, 4,924 tests were conducted through PCR procedure while 4,034 tests were performed through RDT method, according to Dr Devkota.

COVID-19 cases have been reported from 64 districts of the total 77 districts in the country.

A total of 155,868 persons suspected of carrying the Corona Virus and awaiting tests are currently in quarantine facilities across the country.
