State-2 records 496 cases of coronavirus infection; 182 in Rautahat alone

  Janakpurdham, May 29 (RSS): With 96 new cases in the last 24 hours, the number of people infected with coronavirus in State-2 reached 496, Secretary at the Ministry of Social Development Dr Ram Prasad Ghimire confirmed in a regular press briefing on Friday.

            He said five individuals from Rajbiraj Municipality in Saptari, a 50-year-old lady from Khajura in Dhanusha, and two men from Kodaina Rural Municipality and two persons including a woman from Malangawa of Sarlahi were the new cases in the past 24 hours. 

            Similarly, a total of 73 people including 50 persons from Rajpur Municipality’s Farhadwa-based quarantine, two from Saramjhula quarantine from Bodhimai Municipality, six from Maulapur and 15 people including two women of Dumariya Secondary School’s quarantine from Ishanath Municipality in Rautahat district were also tested positive for the virus. 

            With this, the number of coronavirus infected people reached 34 in Saptari, 45 in Sarlahi, 42 in Dhanusha, 182 in Rautahat, 53 in Bara and 98 in Parsa.

            Likewise, 98 persons have returned home after their recovery from the infection.

            Dr Ghimire said that so far 11,626 persons’ swab samples were collected and results of 2,154 are awaited.

            As the number of people coming from India increased sharply of late, the number of quarantine facilities has also been upped in the State. So far, 6,189 people are under home quarantine and 236 in isolation.
