Kasthamandap re-build: first floor construction completes

Kathmandu, 23 Oct The construction of the ground floor of Kasthamandap has been completed.
Organizing a public hearing event on Tuesday, the Kasthamandap reconstruction committee said nearly half of the re-build works of Kasthamandap have been over.
According to Rajendra Shakya, chairperson of the Users Committee, Rs 30 million has been spent so far in the re-build of the historic temple.
The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has granted $ 55 million to the Users Committee for the reconstruction work.
Wooden resources required for the Kasthamandap have been brought from Bardibas and Amlekhgunj. So far 4,038 cube feet of wood had been used for the purpose.
Dr Sudarshan Tiwari, heritage expert, said Kasthamandap is being reconstructed by using traditional technology and conserving archaeologically-important materials.
The KMC had estimated the reconstruction at a cost of Rs 198.8 million within three years. —
