Country witnesses 634 new COVID-19 cases including 216 in Kathmandu valley

            Kathmandu, Aug 22 (RSS): A total of 634 new cases of coronavirus infection have been reported in the country in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population said in a regular press briefing on Saturday.

            Of them, 216 infected people were reported in Kathmandu valley including 160 in Kathmandu district, six in Lalitpur and 50 in Bhaktapur, Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam said. 

            In the past 24 hours, 126 people returned home after complete recovery from the virus. Till Saturday, altogether 18,350 infected ones won the battle against the coronavirus.

            As shared by Dr Gautam, 135 people are receiving treatment in ICU while 12 are in ventilators for the treatment of coronavirus infection.    

            Currently, Mustang, Myagdi and Humla district has no reported case of the virus infection while Morang, Parsa, Mahottari, Rautahat, Sarlahi and Kathmandu each have more than 500 active cases.

            Meanwhile, the Ministry has urged the people to stay in quarantine facilities after giving their sample swab until the report of the virus was received. 

            Spokesperson Dr Gatuam shared that nine more people including a six-year-old girl and a man from Sunsari district died of coronavirus infection the past 24 hours across the country. With this, the total death toll reached 146. 

            Three men in Parsa and one each in Bara, Siraha, Makawanpur and Bhaktapur died from the coronavirus, Dr Gautam confirmed.
