Bhaktapur, 8 July : Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel has pledged to incorporate yoga in school curriculum.
At a seminar organized by the Patanjali Yog Samiti Nepal’s central office at Bhaktapur here today, Minister Pokharel shared that curriculum were being developed for the study of yoga, Ayurvedic medicine and the like and said that yoga education would be expanded to every nook and corners of the country through students.
Pokharel viewed that it was wrong to understand yoga as only a physical exercise as it is a holistic system of union between mind, body and spirit. He underscored the need to make people understand the essence of yoga and intensify research and studies on it.
On the occasion, participants had delivered speeches, with stress on the benefits of yoga to our holistic health. Participants such as Patanjali Yog Committee Nepal’s central president Sudarshan Subedi and its other officials, yoga teachers Dirgharaj Giri, Bal Mukunda Suwal and Januka Bhattarai among others had presented working papers and deliberated on the yoga and Ayurvedic system of treatment.
